How do I get my home ready to sell?
Tips on staging your home for sale:
Improve Curb Appeal - keep lawn mowed, flower beds weeded, trees/shrubs/hedges trimmed, painting of trim, windows, fences, etc., yard kept neat and clean, pet droppings removed, pressure wash buildings where necessary, clean out gutters.
Repairs – make sure all small, inexpensive repairs are completed & consider larger repairs if necessary to sell your house.
Clean Inside - make sure inside is clean, tidy and smells clean and fresh
Reduce Clutter - put things away, throw things out, donate clothes to the Salvation Army, remove extra furniture (creates more space), rent storage space or store excess items with a friend or family member, don’t hide things in cupboards and closets – potential buyers open everything!
Remove Family Photos - or people won’t be able to see the house as their home
Painting Inside – fill holes in walls and paint where necessary in neutral tones.
Showing Your Home:
- Ensure your house is clean, tidy and smells good
- Turn on all lights
- Make sure the house is warm
- Play soft music
- Do not leave pets in the house
- Cut the lawn
- Remove garbage from property
- Do not be present for showings – this makes potential buyers uncomfortable
